Fun Things To Do in Lake Bob Sandlin State Park

1. Fish

This park is best known for fishing. You can fish from the shore, a lighted fishing pier or by boat on the lake. There is also a stocked pond. A fish cleaning station is also provided.

Fishing from the shore and pier do not require a fishing license in the park. You will need to obtain one if fishing by boat.

The park store offers fishing poles to borrow, but I would call to check the availability. You can catch large mouth Bass, Crappie and Catfish. For more fishing info click HERE.

2. Lake Fun

It’s a 9000 acre sq. lake, so lots of room for boating fun! The park offers a boat ramp. Kayak rentals are also available.

There is a designated swim area, but no beach available. They do have a floating dock.

3. Hike

There are a few different hiking and mountain biking trails to choose from.

Dogwood Trail – 1.6 miles This trail takes you through the woods to a fishing pond. The fall is a beautiful time to enjoy this trail. This is not a loop, so either out and back or you can use the park road to get back where you started.

Lakeview Loop – .6 miles -loop with lake views. It’s a short easy hike.

Brim Pond Trail – .3 miles -Trail to get from the Dogwood trail to the Lakeview Loop. Short pretty trail.

Homestead Trail – .4 miles – Trail that connects the Fort Sherman Camp Ground to the Dogwood Trail. Another short pretty trail.

I did all of these as a giant loop. It added up to a little over 5 miles and that included walking a little extra through the park. It took me 2 hours and that was with stopping for pictures and taking it in. For more trail info click HERE.
