When people think of adventure, they often think of hiking the Appalachian Trail, climbing Mt. Everest or maybe a cruise around the world. All of those things would be awesome, but most people do not have the time or money to accomplish them. This post is about how to add adventure to your day no matter who you are.
Adventure can be anything that is different from your normal routine. It can be something you’ve never done before. Ideally it will be fun and exciting and maybe even get you out of your comfort zone.
Everyone needs adventure in their life otherwise life gets boring. Doing the same thing day in and day out just gets old. Even if you have an awesome job that you love, you still need to spice things up a little. And if you don’t love your job, even more so you need to add fun into your life!
Ideally you should add adventure to your day everyday! Especially work days. Don’t just live for the weekends, enjoy the week! There are 260 weekdays a year! Enjoy them!
Simple Ideas To Add Adventure to Your Day:
Change Up Your Commute
Switch up your route to and from work. Take the third route that Google always offers and no one willingly takes it. Catch a sunset on the way home. Or try a different mode of transportation. Bike to work, take public transportation, carpool, walk, just do something different.
Change Your Appearance
I wear almost the same outfits to work everyday. If you’re like me, change it up. Do something different with your hair or make up. It doesn’t have to be drastic unless you want it to be. I always have my hair pulled back, so just having it down is different. And I hardly ever wear make up, so when I do it’s noticeable.
Get Out of The Office
Get out of the office for your lunch break and go somewhere! Meet a friend for lunch, try a new restaurant or a new food. Walk somewhere, get fresh air and a change of scenery.
Move Your Body
Moving your body has so many benefits that it can definitely be a post in itself. And I’m sure you already know exercise is good for you anyways. Just getting out of the house and walking can be adventurous. Check out a new trail or a new park. Start bike riding. Check out new classes at the gym. Do zumba or yoga or join a bootcamp! Just get moving!
Get Up Early
It can be easy to use the excuse of “I don’t have time”. Make time! Get up early. You can get so much accomplished in an hour. You can use this time to get work out of the way to clear up your day for more fun. Or add the fun first thing in the morning. Hike somewhere cool to watch the sunrise.
Stay Up Late
Okay, so you’re not a morning person, I hear you. Enjoy your evening exploring the city, hanging with friends, playing games with the family or hosting a dinner party. So many options!
Get a New Hobby
The options are endless on this, just make sure you enjoy it. You may have to try out different things to see what you really enjoy doing.
Some ideas: Photography, cooking, martial arts, dance classes, scrap booking, cake decorating, shooting, archery, hiking, yoga, etc. Join a sports team- softball, volleyball.
Meet New People
I’m a natural introvert, so this is the hardest for me. However when I put myself out there, I usually end up meeting amazing people. It can be hard to make friends as adults, at least it is for me.
One of the easiest ways is through other friends or coworkers. When they invite you to an event, branch off and meet new people.
Engage with people through your new hobby. You know you at least have one thing in common. The Meet Up App is great too. I just recently met a couple women in my area to start hiking with.
Your neighbors! Start a neighborhood book club or host a BBQ.
Volunteer! You can meet the best people volunteering! And they’re helping the community so you know they’re good people.
Go Add Adventure to Your Day!
Alright, go add an adventure to your day! Start small and just try one thing or jump in and do them all! Either way you’ll start enjoying life a little bit more.
