My friends and I visited the Dallas Arboretum last week on the first day of spring. I’ve lived in the Dallas area most of my life and have never made it here during the spring! I will not make that mistake again! It’s beautiful!! You need to visit!

This arboretum is rated one of the best botanical gardens in the nation! With over 66 acres of beauty to explore, this is also a perfect place for a photo shoot! For brides, engagement or family photos. Last week there were several celebrating their quinceanera.

Events:

The Dallas Blooms event is going on now through April 7th. I highly recommend going during this time. There are over 500,000 gorgeous tulips spread out among the gardens. Plus over 100 varieties of other spring flowers blooming.

They host other events throughout the year as well. Certain times of the year they host Dollar Days. In October, you will see a ton of fall flowers and pumpkins. Great Photo opportunities! Christmas brings seasonal displays like the 12 Days of Christmas.

Food:

Outside food and drinks are welcome, so bring a picnic lunch. You can make a day out of it, and spread out among the beautiful manicured lawns.

There are a couple eating options in the arboretum. By the entrance, there is a restaurant that offers outdoor seating with beautiful views of the Dallas skyline. Another restaurant is located towards the middle of the gardens and offers indoor seating.

I’ve heard they offer free snacks from their very own vegetable and herb garden, but I didn’t get a chance to try anything.

Kids:

They have a space just for the younger crowd at the Children’s Adventure Garden. It offers indoor and outdoor exhibits, plant labs, an edible garden, special events and water features. There is a separate fee of $3.

Cost:

Admission during the Dallas Blooms event is $17 per adult and $12 per child aged 2-12. Parking is an additional $15 per car.

Location:

Located by White Rock Lake in Dallas at 8525 Garland Road.

Tip: Make sure to bring sunscreen and water. I forgot sunscreen and my face got a little pink that day.
