Fall is one of my favorite seasons! I love all the pumpkin flavored food, the cooler temps and most importantly all the fun fall activities. This is a great time for creating fun family fall traditions. Here are a few of our favorites!

Fun Family Fall Traditions To Start This Year:

1. Visit to The Pumpkin Patch

A visit to the pumpkin patch should be on every families list! It’s one of my favorite fun family fall traditions. We’ve done this since my kids were babies and still go now that they are teens.

Many pumpkin patches offer fun family activities like hayrides, festivals, bounce houses and more.

2. Visit to an Apple Orchard

Picking apples is such a fun activity! Like pumpkin patches, the apple orchards will sometimes host additional fun family activities.

Unfortunately we’re not able to do this every year, since there are not many orchards in the Dallas area.

3. Fall Hike

A family hike through the fall leaves is a perfect tradition to start! There’s something awesome about getting out in the crisp cool air and hiking through the woods.

For younger kids, collect pretty leaves and rocks or have fun with a nature scavenger hunt.

4. Fall Baking Day

The fall season means lots of pumpkin flavored goodies! Spend a day baking pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins and pumpkin cookies.

Bake a pie with the apples you picked from the apple orchard. The possibilities are endless and definitely yummy!

Another fun thing to add to this would be giving away some of the baked treats to friends, family or neighbors.

5. Scenic Drive To View Fall Foliage

Take a mini road trip and go exploring for beautiful fall foliage.

For younger kids, create a fall road trip scavenger hunt to keep them interested.

Bring kettle corn and other fun fall treats to snack on in the car.

6. A Fall Camping Trip is One of The Best Fun Family Fall Traditions

Take a weekend to get away and really bond as a family on a camping trip. Find somewhere with beautiful fall colors to enhance the experience.

If you’ve never been camping or short on time, have a backyard camp out. Borrow all the camping supplies from friends.

7. S’mores Over A Campfire

There’s not much that competes with roasting marshmallows over a fire and creating a s’more! It’s an awesome fun family fall tradition, because it gives an opportunity to talk with each other and reconnect.

8. Fall Festival

Most cities will host several festivals during the fall months. Find one and check it out together as a family.

9. Football Game

Cheer on a local high school football team, college team or even an NFL game. Go Cowboys! (Married to a diehard fan)

This is one of more recent traditions from when my kids entered high school. I had no idea they could be so much fun to attend. I’ve heard college games are even more fun and that’s on our fall bucket list this year.

Have a tailgate party too!

10. Pumpkin Walk

Take a walk through the neighborhood as a family to see everyone’s fall pumpkins displayed.

11. Fall Family Pictures

Fall is the perfect time to have a family photo shoot. There are plenty of options for outdoor photos like at a pumpkin patch, orchard or at a local park with beautiful fall foliage.

Plus it gives you enough time to use them for Christmas cards in a couple months.

12. Leaf Jumping

This is another one of our favorite fun family fall traditions! And it’s FREE! You’ve got to rake anyways, so rake the leaves up into a huge pile and jump in!

We haven’t done this one in a few years which is sad. Mostly because we moved to a new development and our two trees are tiny. They just don’t produce enough leaves to even make a pile. I might have to look into doing this on our camping trip.
