This is one of my favorite seasons, because there are so many fun things to do with teens in the fall. If you have a teen, than you know that they can be picky about family fun. Here are my top ten fun fall activities with teens.
Fun Things To Do With Teens In The Fall:
1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkin patches are a must do in the fall for every age! Most teens won’t mind going, because they’ll get cute pics. It’s ALL about the photo opportunities! Instagram, Snap Chat or TikTok to be more accurate ๐
However that’s completely okay because we still get our fun family outing!
2. Fall Hike
Walking through woods with beautiful fall foliage and feeling the crisp clean air is so invigorating! It’s my favorite kind of therapy, nature therapy. It’s a great way for teens and anyone to release stress.
This is a hit or miss, so you’ve got to know your teen. I have two that love getting out in nature and enjoying the great outdoors. I have one that will complain the whole time, but I think she still secretly likes it.
Now that they are teens, try and take on a more challenging hike. They can easily do more miles than when they were younger and they’ll feel accomplished afterwards.
3. Corn Maze
This is one of my favorite fun things to do with teens in the fall! Getting lost in a corn maze should be on everyone’s fall bucket list. Just so you know, you don’t really get lost. It may take a little longer but we’ve always found our way out.
This year I want to do a corn maze at night with a flashlight! I can’t wait to try this!
4. Fall Fair or Festival
Every teen I know loves the fair! It’s a MUST DO! What’s not to love? The fried food, rides and games are awesome!
There are usually different types of festivals going on during the fall too. In Dallas we have a hot air balloon festival, wine festival, Oktoberfest and more. The wine festival is actually family friendly. The have a grape stomp for all ages! Find out what’s happening in your area, so you can get it on the calendar.
5. Camping Trip
This is a great fun thing to do with teens in the fall! Camping is awesome for family bonding. There’s only you guys and nature, so it’s a great way to spend time together.
Make sure it’s fun! Bring stuff to make s’mores, fun board games that they actually like and planned fun adventures.
Pick a location that is far enough away that it feel likes an escape, but close enough that they won’t freak out. Make sure you have electricity, because technology is everything to them right now.
I do suggest having separate tents, because some teens like their space. We have two tents. One for the teens and one for my husband and me.
6. Football Game
They love going to football games to cheer on their local high school. Join in on the fun too if your teen doesn’t mind. Dress in their school colors and cheer right along.
Check out a football game at the college they are thinking about attending. If it’s local, make a day out of it, tailgate and check out the cool spots in the area. If it’s not, make a fun weekend out of it.
Professional football more your thing? Get tickets to an NFL game if there is one in your area.
7. Farmer’s Market
Browsing through the different stalls is not for every teen, but most like it. Especially if you purchase all the baked goods available! Teens seem to be very food driven or maybe that’s just mine ๐
When ever we hit up a farmer’s market, we always find the best food and locally made goods. I love that it’s a way to support small businesses too!
8. Mini Golf
Another fun thing to do with teens in the fall is play mini golf. It can get a little competitive with my group, but still a fun thing to do as a family.
9. Baking Day
We set aside a day to make ALL the yummy pumpkin goodies! Pumpkin bread, muffins, pie and cookies. There’s a couple people in the family that don’t like pumpkin flavored items, so we’ll make different things for them.
10. Coffee Shop Date
Pumpkin Spice Latte anyone? We’ll hit up our favorite coffee shop or find a new one for more one on one time together.
Not a coffee fan? Hot chocolate is usually a hit with everyone!
11. Drive In Movie
Have you been to a drive in movie? They are awesome! The weather is perfect for having your windows down and even sitting outside. Go all out and grab popcorn, snacks and beverages.
12. Flea Market
Flea markets are awesome! I don’t know if all teens like shopping at flea markets, but mine do. I honestly can’t remember what they buy each time we go, but they always want to go back.
We usually hit up the Canton one once a year. It’s huge and they have almost everything there you could think of. Plus a ton of food options!
13. 5K Themed Run
Again this may only appeal to certain groups, but 5Ks can be fun! It’s a great way to get in shape as a family and then be able to race each other.
Pick one with a theme and dress up! Like a Turkey Trot or Monster Dash.
14. Fall Photo Shoot
This is a perfect time to get family pictures! There’s multiple options for fun outdoor backgrounds like a pumpkin patch, corn maze or a state park. Make sure to get individual photos too.
15. Stranger Things Marathon
Spend the day veggie outing and watching Stranger Things. It’s a great fall themed Netflix series that teens love!
Or pick a different fall themed movie or TV series to watch together.
