Pilot Point is a little town about 60 miles north of Dallas. With a population of a little over 4,000 you’d be surprised that there are a few cool things to do here! I’m going to list 4 of the best things to do in Pilot Point.
Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch
The Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch is a non profit organization that homes dozens of exotic animals. They offer a petting zoo, tram ride and animal shows through out the day.
Animals that you can see are camels, kangaroos, alpacas, goats, sloths, bears, lemurs, horses and more. The ranch is open to the public on the weekends. You can click here to learn how I spent a few hours seeing the wildlife.

Texas Tulips
Texas Tulips is a family owned tulip farm. This is a seasonal activity only available when the tulips are in bloom. Usually late February/ early March to the beginning of April. They have many different varieties of tulips, so something will always be blooming during the season. This is a great place to take spring photos!!
Weekends can be crowded! Plan to get there first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon/ early evening. Better yet, visit on a week day!

Ray Roberts Lake State Park
The Isle Du Bois Unit of Ray Roberts Lake is in Pilot Point. This state park is a great place to go camping, boating, kayaking, biking or take an easy hike. You can camp right by the waters edge.
Since this is a state park, they offer multiple ranger programs daily. Like ranger led hikes, nature programs and more. You can get a daily schedule when you enter the park at the park entrance.
It also offers one of the only nice beaches in the DFW area. A dedicated area of the lake is sectioned off for wading and swimming in the water. Check out this post for the Ultimate Guide to Ray Roberts State Park.
Downtown Pilot Point
Pilot Point has a cute historic downtown area. I came on a Saturday and it was pretty deserted. Half the buildings were empty, however I found a couple gems worth visiting!
Is this not the cutest boutique ever?!?
Cute tees, clothing, shoes, gifts and more!! I spent a little more than I should have here!!
The lady working at the boutique recommended coffee from this shop:
It’s adorable as well.
They also had a few murals to look at.
Summary
Overall, there is a variety of things to do in Pilot Point! From exotic animals, to boating, camping, flowers and shopping!! You’ll find plenty to keep you busy on a day trip in the Dallas area!!
