Have you heard of the Texas Tulips farm?

This needs to be on your spring must do list!! Texas Tulips is an 80 acre family owned farm full of, you guessed it, tulips!! Tulips happen to be my favorite flower, so I had to check this place out!!

It’s located in the small town of Pilot Point about 60 miles north of Dallas or approximately a little over an hour drive away. A great day trip from Dallas, plus you get a little country scenery to gaze at!

Tulip Season

The Tulip season varies every year depending on the weather. This year (2019) the Texas Tulips farm opened for the season on February 26th and closed sometime in early April.

Texas Tulips

They plant 100 different varieties of tulips, so there will always be some blooming during the tulip season. Purple, pink, yellow, white, multi colored! They are all gorgeous!

Visiting

This year I visited the Texas Tulips field twice. Once in the beginning of March and the other at the very end of March. It’s amazing how much a difference a few weeks made!

Texas Tulips

The first visit was packed!! We went on a Saturday mid day and there were a ton of people!!! The lines were crazy long to get the tulips wrapped and there were always people in the background when taking photos. The tulips were also not very tall. You had to get down low to the ground to get a good picture.

The second visit was around 7:00 p.m. on a weekday evening. There were no crowds! And the tulips were much taller and fuller looking!

I recommend coming on a weekday to avoid crowds. If coming on a weekend, get there early!! I’ve heard during very busy days, it can take 30 minutes to an hour just to park the car!

General Info:

Okay, so the logistics. There is a $5 entrance fee and free parking. You are allowed to pick your own tulips for $2.50 a stem.

They provide cute baskets to carry them around while you are frolicking in the flowers. After you finish picking your bouquet, they will wrap the tulips for you and bundle them.

They accept cash and credit cards.

Texas Tulips is located at 10656 FM 2931 in Pilot Point, TX

Open everyday of the week from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Photos!

This is a great place to take spring pictures! We saw many people doing family photos and little kids in Easter dresses. Professional photographers do have to pay a small fee to take photos here.

Tips

  1. Wear sunscreen! There is no shade at the tulip farm. In fact wear sunglasses and/ or a hat. You’ve been warned!
  2. Definitely dress super cute for photos, but remember that you will be walking on dirt. Especially if it just rained, keep that in mind!
  3. Bring water. Like I said before, there’s no shade and this is Texas. Even in the spring, it can get hot!
  4. They do have a small concession stand and picnic tables available.
  5. Port a potties only, in case you need to plan accordingly.
  6. Check their website to make sure before coming to see the status of the tulips.
