You don’t have to go out to have a fun date night with your partner. We perfected the art of at home date nights when my kids were littles and couldn’t afford a babysitter. Now with Covid, there’s even more reasons to stay at home. Here’s a ton of fun at home date night ideas to share with your partner.
1. Backyard Fire with Smore’s
This is super simple and easy! Build a fire in the backyard, then bust out some graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate! Great way to relax and catch up with each other.
2. DIY Night
Build something together. This can be anything, like a fire pit for the above date night if you don’t already have one. Or shelves, an outdoor Jenga game, etc.
3. Paris Theme Night
Paris is the city of love right!?! Create that experience at home. Throw up white Christmas lights, watch a Paris themed movie, make Crepes, croissants or macaroons. French fries, anyone? You can even tour a couple of the museums in Paris virtually! And of course, the french kiss!
4. Board Games
Bring out your favorite board games or buy a brand new one.
If you want a mini twist, play all your board games in one evening. Only play one round of each, so you can get through them all. Winner is who wins the most rounds.
Make it more romantic by playing next to the fireplace or by candlelight.
5. Cuddle by the Fire
Especially great in the winter, take time to just chill and cuddle by the fireplace. Hang out and talk.
6. Pretend Power Outage
A fun at home date night idea! Everything is by candlelight! This means that you have to pretend to conserve power, so no electronics. Dinner by candlelight and whatever else may happen.
7. Indoor Picnic
Move furniture if necessary. Lay out a picnic blanket in the living room and have an old fashioned picnic.
8. Indoor Camping
Act like a kid again and make a giant blanket fort with lots of pillows and an air mattress! Make indoor smore’s and foil dinners in the oven. Watch Ghostbusters or anything “scary” to add to the theme. For that little extra, add Christmas lights for a more romantic effect.
9. Backyard Camp Out
Or if you want to go all out, set up a tent in the backyard! Roast hot dogs and marshmallows for a quick dinner.
10. Make a Three Course Meal Together
Appetizer, entree and dessert. Make everything together or split it up evenly. This makes for lots of time in the kitchen.
11. Tik Tok Date
Each of you needs to spend a few minutes on Tik Tok. Find 5 videos each for your partner to recreate. It can be a competition, the winner is whoever replicates the video the best. Another way, you can both try and recreate all the videos together.
12. Sip & Paint
Recreate your own version of this at home. Buy the art supplies ahead of time. Then, find a YouTube video with a painting tutorial. Have drinks and snacks ready, then start painting.
13. Cookie Baking Contest
Each of you picks a different recipe and decide who’s is better. Cupcakes work for this too.
14. Tackle A Home Project
A productive at home date night idea. This doesn’t sound as much fun, but it can be depending on the project. Plus, it’s always more fun tackling something together instead of on your own.
Like a painting a room…maybe you “accidentally” get paint on the other person..
15. Workout Together
Working out is always more fun with a buddy! Crank the music and lift weights, run together or put on a workout video.
16. Yoga
Kind of similar to the one above. Roll out your yoga mats for a peaceful relaxing night.
17. Card Games
Just a regular deck of cards and learn as many new games as possible. Or get crazy and play strip poker.
18. Fondue Night
There’s not too many more romantic dinner options than fondue! Have a cheese fondue for bread and veggies. A chocolate fondue for strawberries, other fruit and marshmallows.
19. Spa Night
To set the mood, have calm music playing, light candles and wear comfy bathrobes. For the spa part, soak in a bathtub, give each other foot rubs, massages, facials and /or pedicures.
20. Mini Photo Shoot
Set up a tripod and get pics of the two of you together. Maybe wear something matching, or pajamas or just being goofy.
21. Make a Video Keepsake
Video each other telling the story of how you met, about your first date, your wedding or honeymoon or any of the above.

One of the easiest at home date night ideas. Each person gets to pick a movie and you’ll watch both. Go all out with popcorn, drinks and movie candy!
24. Netflix & Chill
Find a new series to watch and binge watch it!
25. Make Sushi
Buy a book, watch YouTube videos or a cooking show and learn how to roll sushi.
26. Wine & Cheese Tastings
Pair your favorite wines and cheeses to make different combinations.
27. Beer Tastings
Did you know you can make beer from home? Or simply buy a few new beers and try them out.
28. Stargazing
Head out into the backyard with cozy blankets. See how many constellations you can find.
29. Nostalgic Night
Bust out your pics and photo albums and take a trip down memory lane.

Figure out something that you both would love to learn and watch videos or get books to help teach you. Could be something helpful like Photoshop, web design or better photography skills. Or something silly like juggling or how to walk on stilts.

A great at home date night! Get Trivial Pursuit or another trivia game and see who has retained the most information. This can also be done online with a few other friends for a virtual group date.

Try to make your favorite cocktails from home. You can also watch the movie Cocktail and learn a few fun bar tricks.
35. 50’s Theme Night
Seriously how fun would it be to wear a poodle skirt and have a mini sock hop! Watch Grease or Back to the Future!
36. 80’s Theme Night
Get out your bold leggings, big hair and biker jackets for a night back in the 80’s. Have a mini concert and listen to Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, or U2. In fact have a lip syncing contest.
Other ideas: learn to break dance, moon walk or play an 80’s Trivia game.
Movie ideas: 16 Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Out, Breakfast Cub, ET or the Ghostbusters. Stranger Things is pretty 80’s themed too!
37. 90’s Theme Night
I was a teen in the 90’s, so many memories! Dress like Cher from Clueless or go the Flannel and Docs route. Make a 90’s playlist and do a couple 90’s dances like the Running Man and Macarena.
Movie Ideas: Jurassic Park, Clueless, Ghost or Pulp Fiction. Have a mini Saved by the Bell marathon.
38. Jigsaw Puzzle
Some people find these boring, but I think they’re great. It makes you work together, plus leaves lots of time for conversation.
39. Italian Theme
A delicious at home date night! Dinner should be from your favorite Italian restaurant or make pizza or pasta at home. Use this night to plan the perfect trip to Italy or visit the Sistine Chapel virtually. Learn a few phrases in Italian, make tiramisu, watch the Italian Job or Letters to Juliet.
40. Japanese Theme
Create a Japanese Tea Room in your house and have a tea ceremony. Make or pick up sushi. Learn origami and wear a kimono if you have one. Watch Memoirs of a Geisha.
41. India Theme
A colorful and spicy at home date night! No India date night will be complete without delicious Indian food! Order from your favorite Indian restaurant or use the time to make something from home.
My favorite part of this night, have a Holi powder fight! Make your own, wear white and have fun!
42. Culture Theme Night
Pick a random culture/ country not famous. Research it and prepare a dinner from that area. Try and find music and a movie from that area too.
Prep for this early in the day in case you have to go to a special grocery store. This can even be part of the date.
43. Massages
Give each other massages. Watch YouTube for massage techniques.
44. Couple’s Bucket List
A great at home date night can be putting together your couple’s bucket list. Figure out everything you want to do together and write it down! It’s a fun way to plan the future.
45. YouTube Dance Lessons
Salsa? Ballroom? The Tango? Two Stepping?
46. Watch a Documentary
There are so many types to choose from. You can each pick one that interests you. Another way is to pick a topic and watch all the documentaries on it.
47. Hot Tub
For a hot at home date night! Kinda self explanatory, but there’s not much better than relaxing after a long day in a hot tub.
48. Make a Pizza From Scratch
The dough, sauce and toppings. Or have a competition, who can make the best pizza!
49. Truth or Dare
Go old school and play a little truth or dare.
50. Play Video Games
Video Games Only. This can be a blast! Pick a game or a few different ones. Make it a competition or be on the same team. Works best if one of you are into video games.
51. Concert Via YouTube
You can find almost everything on YouTube! Country, Rock, Pop, Classical or even local bands. Make a night of it!
52. Nerf Gun Fight
Have Nerf Guns and ammo ready! If you want to be sneaky, don’t tell your partner about this. When they get home, have a Nerf gun waiting for them at the door with a warning that it’s on!
For an added bonus, watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith, 007 or one of the Bourne movies.
53. Chocolate Tasting
Grab at least 6 different types of chocolate and break them into small pieces for a tasting. Easier version, get one big box of chocolates and try to guess what each flavor is.
54. 20 Questions
Write down 20 random questions to ask each other. Get help from the internet if needed or make them would you rather questions.
55. YouTube Karaoke
Put on your favorite songs and go for it!
56. Backyard Picnic
Enjoy the outdoors with your loved one while eating outside. This can be done during the day or at night under the stars.
57. Plan Out Next Vacation
Plan out your next trip, a dream trip or an anniversary trip. Go in to detail with daily itineraries, where to stay and what to eat.
58. Memories
Have each person write down 10-20 memories of the other person. Then share them with each other.
Go a step further and share your favorite qualities of the other person and /or why you love being married to them.
59. Walk Around The Neighborhood
Take a stroll through your neighborhood. Walks are a great time to talk and reconnect.
60. Recreate Your First Date
Most first dates are not at home, but try to recreate it to the best of your ability. If you went bowling, create a bowling alley out of 2 liters. Make whatever your first meal was, etc.
61. First Movie
Movie night for the first movie you two ever watched together.
62. Slow Dance
Put on some slow tunes and dance the night away.
63. Snow Fun
Fun at home date idea for the winter. If you live somewhere it snows, make a snowman in the backyard or snow angels.

Find a new recipe and make hot cocoa together.
66. Pretend First Date
Need to add a little spice to your relationship? Pretend to meet each other for the first time and go from there. A little harder to do from home, but you can play out different scenarios. Pretend your at a restaurant, a car broke down on the street, new neighbor, etc.
67. Comedy Show Via YouTube
It’s good to laugh with each other, so set aside a couple hours to find the best comedians on YouTube.
68. YouTube Night
Check out the Dating Divas complete YouTube Date night. It’s a fun online scavenger hunt.
69. Cooking Class Via YouTube
Come up with something neither of you have ever made. Find a YouTube video to watch and learn how to make it together.
70. Dance Party
Throw together a playlist full of dance tunes and have a dance party in the living room. Recreate a night at the club.
71. Recreate Prom
A really fun at home date night idea! Recreate your high school prom. Dress up, take pictures, and dance the night away.
72. Baseball Themed Night
This night is all about baseball. Put on a live game or watch a baseball themed movie. A few choices are A League of Their Own, Field of Dreams and The Natural.
Go outside and throw a baseball around. Eat Cracker Jacks, hot dogs or your favorite stadium food.
73. Football Themed Night
Same as above, but all about football. Watch a live game, maybe even the Super Bowl. Put on a football movie like The Blind Side, Friday Night Lights, Remember the Titans, Rudy or Jerry Maguire.
Go in the backyard and play a little one on one. Have pizza or your favorite Superbowl party foods.
74. Sports Game Night
Watch a sports game on TV with concession stand food like hot dogs, beer, pretzels, etc.
75. Hawaiian Theme Night
Get out your leis and Hawaiian shirts for a fun evening! Have Hawaiian music playing in the background while you eat a Hawaiian inspired dinner. Drinks with little umbrellas are required.
Watch a Hawaiian themed movie, like 50 First Dates.
Bonus points for a massage on the beach. Afterwards, end the date with a swim in the ocean, aka pool, hot tub or bathtub.
76. Ice Cream Party
Who doesn’t like making ice cream sundaes??? With this at home date night, you will turn your kitchen into an ice cream parlor. Get different flavors of ice cream, ALL the toppings and make a huge sundae. See who makes the prettiest, craziest or most delicious.
77. Wild West Theme Night
Have fun with this! Dress the part, with cowboy boots, a hat and flannel. Listen to Country tunes and even two step if you know how. Have a cowboy type home cooked meal like steak or chicken fried steak. Then, put on your favorite Western type movie.
For an added bonus, one of you can pretend to be the sheriff! Wink, wink
78. Backyard Movie
Set up a projector and create your own drive in movie. Make sure to have all the proper concession snacks! Jurassic Park would be a great one to watch outside.
79. Indoor Bowling
They have at home kits or make your own out of two liter bottles and a small ball.
80. DIY Craft Project
Pick a project that is easy and you’ll both enjoy. Like a welcome sign for the porch, a holiday wreath, a paint chip collage, or a scrapbook.
81. Fancy Dinner
Go all out and create a four course meal together. Make sure to dress the part too!
82. Make An Adventure Book
Stealing this from the movie Up, create an adventure book together. Get a scrapbook, decorate and add pictures of past adventures. Plan future adventures to add to it later.
83. Rom Com Movie Bingo
Pick a romantic comedy and play bingo. Determine fun prizes for whoever wins first. Here’s a link to printable Bingo Cards from Eharmony. They have a list of suggested movies attached.
84. Vegas Night
Dinner can be a fancy meal by candlelight or create your own mini buffet. Be sure to include cocktails/ mocktails.
For the gambling, play poker or blackjack. Money can be pennies or M&M type candy. *Strip poker is a fun option
For a show, there are several Las Vegas themed movies like Oceans 11 & 12, Vegas Vacation or Rat Race. Or create your own show- burlesques or pole dancing.
85. Slumber Party
Super easy and simple! Put on your Pj’s and grab lots of pillows and blankets. Just hang out and cuddle. Talk until you pass out.
86. Book Club
Read a book together and then discuss. This can be fiction or a marriage book like the 5 Love Languages.
87. Food Fight
This can be a surprise attack. Start the date by cooking or baking together, and then just start throwing food. I suggest baking, because flour is easier to clean up than some other ingredients.
*You definitely need to know your partner for this to work. You don’t want to start an actual fight.
88. Wedding Memories
Kind of like the other memory nights, except this is strictly about the wedding. Bring out the wedding album and / or video and reminisce.
*You can even recreate the wedding night.
89. Garden
Get your hands dirty together by gardening. Plant flowers or veggies, you decide.
90. Learn a New Hobby
Even if it’s just for the night, pick a new hobby to do together. There are many hobbies to choose from! Stamp collecting, photography, calligraphy, playing a harmonica, plants or refinishing furniture.
