My husband and I spent a little over 24 hours in Eureka Springs this past week. Eureka Springs is a charming little mountain town in Northwest Arkansas. It rained almost the whole time we were there, so I have to save all my outdoor adventures for a future visit. Luckily, there is plenty to keep you busy even if it rains!
Eureka Springs Historic District:
I love historic downtown areas and this did not disappoint! There are many cute shops to browse through and maybe even find a couple treasures to take home. I had a great time just taking photos of all the old buildings. Most of the sidewalks are covered so you can go from shop to shop without getting wet if you forgot your umbrella. Or you can do like I did and buy an umbrella in one of the stores, lol.
There’s a really cool, colorful stairway leading from one level to another.
Historic District Stores:
Ladybug Emporium- variety of jewelry and home decor
Sweet’s Fudge Kitchen- Offers a bunch of different chocolates and goodies.
Bean’s Judge Old Time Saloon Photos- Themed photo shoot! Plus it has a sign that says you can get hitched there! You may want to call and find out the details if that interests you.
Tee Rex- comic book collection, star wars memorabilia, cute tee shirts, novelty gifts
Two Dumb Dames Fudge Factory- You guessed it, they offer many different types of fudge. A nice treat to indulge on your walk around downtown
Gazebo Books- a cute little shop that sells books
Eureka’s Nut House- different varieties and flavors of nuts, plus a large assortment of bottled beverages with unique flavors.
All That Glitters- jewelry and accessories
Lazy One of Eureka Springs- Lazy One Pajamas- I love these cute pajamas!
Quicksilver Gallery- Artist made jewelry, art and pottery
Granny’s Place- unique gifts, local art and boutique clothing
Soap Stop- Large variety of homemade soap bars
There are many more, this is just a handful of the stores.
Escape Room 13
This escape room is based on an actual historic event that happened in Eureka Springs in 1922. Great for a couple or family event. It takes an hour and each group has up to 8 people.
Historic Loop
The Historic Loop showcases many charming historic homes, Bed & Breakfasts and the Crescent Hotel. It is a little over 5 miles. You can drive yourself or take the town trolley.
Thorncrown Chapel
This chapel is made mostly of glass and it is beautiful! It’s set in a wooded area on the outskirts of town and is open to the public most days.
Spa Day
This is a perfect rainy day activity for girlfriends or couples. Many of the spas offer duet massages. There are a couple of spas in the historic district and more in the surrounding area.
Antiques
There is a huge antique store located on the way into town on Highway 62. This place has a ton of cool items inside and outside. There were roosters roaming the property when we were there. You don’t see that everyday!
Eat!
For lunch, we had Bubba’s Barbeque. This is one of those hole in the wall looking type of diners, but I loved the atmosphere. It seems to be a locals favorite-everyone seemed to know everyone else when we were there. Good food and great service!
We ate at Local Flavor in the historic district area for dinner. It’s a restaurant and wine bar with a romantic yet comfortable atmosphere. Here is a link to their dinner menu. Awesome service and great food!
There are a variety of restaurants to choose from sure to suite everyone’s tastes.
Overall, there are plenty of things to keep you busy if it happens to be a rainy day in Eureka Springs. We had a great time enjoying the town atmosphere and checking out the scenery.
